This key role will focus on establishing a standardised, dependable, scalable and sufficiently agile process in delivery of AZ product pricing. Incorporating transfer pricing, published and confidential pricing agreements the successful individual will be responsible for the successful process design using S4 HANA and connected technology combined with external data sources. You will be required to deliver complex pricing agreements and rebates at an enterprise level meeting the needs of our commercial markets. Ensuring accurate, timely and repeatable high quality financial accounting in this key area of gross to net margin management and reporting.

We have now almost completed our global process design, during the next period of this project the post holder will be lead localisation of design within our pioneer sites, supporting build, test and successful deployment.

The role will also play a pivotal role in elevating pricing/margin insight to key stakeholders supporting improved pricing decisions and margin performance.

Leading a team of direct reports as part of the larger S4 programme team, this role will also work with finance, commercial and legal teams within Business Units (Therapy areas), Markets and Business Areas and will lead the work that:

  • Identifies how pricing structures can be more standardised, repeatable and scalable

  • Provides input into the contracting process to shape contract content and potential pricing options or structures available to improve execution of contractual agreements

  • Establish influential and highly collaborative relationships with key partners

  • Works collaboratively, partnering across the end to end process to ensure a clear flow of data and process hand offs and hand ins are known, identified and interdependencies understood and agreed

  • Utilises standard core capabilities of SAP pricing and how these can be applied at scale

  • Designs and delivers a centralised and controlled process delivering the execution of pricing within SAP

  • Identifies the use of 3rd party additional pricing solutions to support more complex pricing requirements

  • Establishes an approach to track of prices globally to facilitate accurate rebates, royalties and credits, including but not limited to Innovative Value Streams and Outcome based pricing

  • Defines the data needed to operate these processes reliably and accurately

  • Ensures Process development enables AstraZeneca to meet all applicable regulatory standards, eg FCF, SOX, accounting GAAP etc

  • Builds and delivers product margin insight in accurate and timely reporting to enable improved pricing decision making

  • Defines and operates future organisation model of pricing execution and insight reporting within AZ

  • Supports the deployment of the above.

  • Keeps self and others up to date on recent developments and emerging trends on an internal and external basis

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Able to challenge and be challenged while sustaining good relationships

  • Proven success building cross-functional global networks and collaborator management

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Commercial approach – able to drive an appropriate level of commercial challenge into all projects ensuring pragmatic benefit.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to use a range of influencing techniques, building strong working relationships and leading without authority.

  • Personal agility – ability to ‘turn your hand’ to issues and events as they arise.

  • Financial accounting qualification

Desirable

  • Specific Expert knowledge in specialist process area

  • Knowledge of current and emerging pharmaceutical pricing pressures and approaches

  • Knowledge of royalty agreements both receivable and payable

  • Change management and program management experience

  • AZ knowledge and network

  • Awareness of current tax and pricing models in AZ

This is a 12 month fixed term project initially but may be extended for longer if required.
