About the Role

The Workplace & Enterprise Services (WES) team is accountable for;

  • Ensuring our workforce has the right tools and services to be most effective in their workplace. This includes end user devices and operating systems, printing, collaboration tools and conferencing. All of which must work seamlessly and continue to be current and relevant to the business.
  • The provision of Enterprise Management, Monitoring and Security tools used across the broader AZIT organization, driving availability through proactive, pre-emptive management of our infrastructure. 
  • The Enterprise Service Management platform (ServiceNow), driving and delivery automation and optimization to ensure that our processes are as efficient and effective as possible. 
  • Lifecycle and currency across our infrastructure, including End User, Server and Networks environments

As the Associate Hardware Lifecycle Manager, you will assume a pivotal role in ensuring AZ global hardware standards are met and will manage the overall devices catalogue; ensuring these meet our exacting standards and reliability for a demanding and diverse workforce. You will work closely with both the Device Lifecycle Lead, Hardware Lifecycle manager and Device Lease (Refresh-IT) colleagues and be expected to manage expectation of the business at all levels. You will be expected to communicate any challenges effectively and manage any supply chain issues and demand.  You will also work closely with stakeholders when reviewing the device catalogue and manage any updates for device provision, including updates into the ServiceNow dataset.

You will also be expected to work closely with our Value Added Resellers (VARs), managing the relationship and deputise when appropriate for the Hardware Lifecycle Manager. Where appropriate escalate any challenges to the Desktop Lifecycle Lead.

Responsibilities:

  • Lifecycle management of device estate - Defining and communicating global standards 
    • Own and maintain AZ global hardware standards 
    • ‘Show and tell’ with the business new technologies 
    • Engage with the business when introducing ‘proof of technology’ solutions  
    • Onboarding and off-boarding of technology 
    • Work closely with the Refresh-IT service team; agreeing appropriate device availability for leasing and amending the catalogue when required for each region, country or site
    • Work closely with the Hardware Lifecycle Manager and agree appropriate device standard to meet the personas for both specialist and lease catalogue; agree these with the relevant stakeholder groups 

  • Strategic planning of device catalogue - relative to AZ strategy & value opportunities 
  • Ownership of the devices catalogue and associated updates 
  • Maintain awareness of changing markets and anticipate/ plan for challenges/ change 
  • Focus on sustainability, automation, simplification, commercial opportunity 
  • Communications at all levels of the business 

  • Negotiation 
  • Pricing with OEMs  
  • Contracts with OEMs where applicable  

  • Internal relationship management and use case management - in accordance with service offerings 
  • Does the service suit the requirement?  
  • What tools do we have and how can we leverage them to meet the requirements of the business?  

  • Relationships (often involving F2F meetings) 
  • OEM management E.g. Lenovo, Intel, AMD  
  • Annual device transitions - planning, testing, communication, stock changeover, including update of ServiceNow catalogue datasets  
  • OEM services and how they work and are managed  
  • Lenovo Premier support escalations
  • OS version control & device pre-reg (for DD)  
  • Intel CSA  
  • Supply chain management with a focus on strategic ways to optimise 
  • Be able to effectively communicate and manage expectations at all levels within the business – escalating when appropriate to the Global Desktop Lead 

  • Value Added Reseller (VAR) Management and device manufacturers (including escalations) globally 
  • Buffer stock and other VAR services  
  • Governance of the service  
  • Ensure Service Levels are consistently exceeded or met, escalating where applicable 
  • Assist with contract negotiations 
  • Reporting and data analysis to support business requirements  
  • SME for global device ordering process and manage procurements when presented with challenges 
  • Drive improvements to the procurement process 
  • Develop a comprehensive disposal dashboard evidencing our sustainability targets of zero landfill 
  • Where opportunities exist, expand the current VAR offering to additional areas of the business
