Our AstraZeneca Nordic Marketing Company employs around 550 people and has offices located in Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Espoo. AstraZeneca Nordic is a recognized leader in its core therapy areas and aims to improve the lives of millions of people. To achieve our bold ambitions, we are now looking for a Medical Evidence Scientific Leader with a flexible location in any of AstraZeneca Nordic Marketing Company (Nordic MC) offices, to join our Nordic Medical Evidence team of 12 people.

The Nordic Medical Evidence team is a Nordic cross-functional research team responsible for our Real-World Evidence (RWE)/clinical epidemiology/observational studies and Externally Sponsored Research studies, delivering more than 50 publications per year. We have an extensive collaboration with clinical experts, academic institutions, and contract research organizations (CROs) centers across the Nordics.

Accountabilities:
We are offering a unique opportunity to contribute with your research expertise for studies supporting our expanding portfolio. You will play a crucial role in identifying evidence gaps/research questions, conceptualizing study designs, identifying relevant data sources (such as registers, clinical quality databases, electronic medical records), planning statistical analyses, interpretation of results, writing up manuscripts/congress abstracts, and in dissemination of findings across different therapeutic areas.

As a Medical Evidence Scientific Leader, you will lead AstraZeneca-sponsored RWE studies requiring establishment and cultivation of research partnerships with clinical experts, academic institutions and CROs. You are also expected to promote good research practices and represent AstraZeneca’s position when interacting with external experts; and maintain functional skill set by keeping up to date on epidemiological advances.

Responsibilities

  • Identification of evidence gaps (research questions) through cross-functional cooperation and translate these into specific studies

  • Conceptualization and design of RWE/clinical epidemiology/observational studies

  • Development of study protocols, statistical analyses plans, study reports and publications

  • Dissemination of research findings, e.g., for international, peer-review publication and congress abstract/posters/oral presentations for different audiences

  • Provide research expertise in different cross-functional teams

  • Provide inhouse training within epidemiology, Real-World data sources and statistics

  • Interaction with health authorities, clinical experts and relevant scientific communities regarding data, relevant study methods and research methodology

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in epidemiology, statistics or related health science field and experience in the health care environment. Alternatively, an MSc with substantial experience in the health care environment or equivalent

  • Solid hands-on experience in observational research/epidemiology, or clinical research, including study design, statistical analysis, interpretation and dissemination of results

  • Oncology therapeutic knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of Nordic health care systems and health care data sources 

  • Strategic mindset and good networking capabilities 

  • Excellent communication skills in English and at least one Nordic language

  • Integrity and high ethical standards

It is important to have solid experience within the following areas: epidemiological design and statistical analyses of observational studies and other types of studies/research, Nordic data sources, as well as therapeutic knowledge, preferably from the oncology area. Knowledge about and experience with artificial intelligence/machine learning and natural language processing would be a great advantage. Excellent communication skills, a positive can-do attitude and the ability to work in cross-functional teams are crucial.
