Associate Principal Scientist - Process Analytical technology

Join our team as an Associate Principal Scientist for Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and make a significant impact in the development and manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). As a specialist in PAT for New Modalities, you will drive technical excellence amongst our scientists, enabling them to identify and implement PAT in the development and manufacture of APIs. This role is an opportunity to be a leader in PAT and a role model for people, skills, and communication.


As an Associate Principal Scientist, you will be a recognized technical expert in the development and application of PAT solutions during the development and manufacture of drug substances. You will execute organizational ECS, sustainability, and productivity targets in the area of PAT and New Modalities. You will collaborate with external manufacturers in the development and application of PAT into commercial manufacturing plants. You will also build and utilize an internal and external network to review and evaluate new trends in PAT applications.

Essential Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of a PhD or degree level education in a relevant scientific discipline with significant experience in applying PAT and associated data processing expertise within a Research & Development environment in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Knowledge of Control Strategies, especially involving the implementation of spectroscopic methods.
- Demonstrated success proposing and developing PAT-based solutions.
- A thorough understanding of the principles and management of SHE and cGMP.
- Ability to think and operate across functional boundaries, constructively challenge the status quo and continually seek opportunities for novel work practices.
- Experience supporting external collaborations in the development of new technologies.
- An established track record of enhancing business reputation through scientific publications on PAT.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Practical experience working on solid phase synthesis platforms such oligonucleotide or peptide chemical syntheses.
- Interest in the use of automation and closed-loop control in API manufacturing.
- Appreciation of Data Science, and coding skills in Matlab or Python.
