At AstraZeneca we work together across global boundaries to make an impact and find answers to challenges.  We do this with the upmost integrity even in the most difficult situations because we are committed to doing the right thing.  As a member of the US Controllers team, the Senior Financial Reporting Manager supports the internal and external financial reporting processes for US legal entities and will be responsible for leading the preparation of audited financial statements on a local statutory basis for the US Pharmaceutical Partnership.  The role requires preparing financial statements on an IFRS for group reporting, US GAAP basis for local statutory reporting, and on an IAS basis for the Swedish Tax team.  Leads local Period-end Financial Reporting internal controls and processes.  Provides technical expertise regarding IFRS accounting issues and US GAAP accounting pronouncements.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Reporting Manager will support the internal and external reporting for

all AstraZeneca US legal entities while coordinating activities with the AZ Global Group Reporting Team.  This role coordinates the financial reporting process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis and will also perform duties that help ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.  As a member of the US Controllers team, and reporting to the Director Financial Reporting, the role will include extensive interaction with several functions across the business, specifically in the areas of R&D, Commercial Marketing, Enabling Units and Global Manufacturing Operations.  The Senior Financial Reporting Manager will collaborate with employees in multiple locations throughout the US (Wilmington, DE; Gaithersburg, MD), as well as global locations (Cambridge, England; New Delhi, India; San Jose, Costa Rica).  Activities also include researching technical accounting and reporting issues to ensure compliance with IFRS, US GAAP & AstraZeneca Group Finance policies and procedures.  Provides business partnering support related to environmental reserves, liaising with internal/external auditors resolving issues, and researching accounting items.

Additionally, the Senior Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for supporting the development and preparation of audited financial statements under US GAAP, IFRS, IAS for AstraZeneca legal entities including US Pharms, US Non-pharms, and Puerto Rico.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Accounting, Finance)
  • 8+ years of increasing accounting, finance, and operational experience
  • Excellent communication skills, including oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a challenging environment while emphasizing teamwork
  • Solid leadership skills with experience influencing and impacting with teams of professionals remotely

Preferred Background:

  • MBA
  • Experience with financial reporting of similar sized, global company
  • Prior Big 4 audit experience in the bio/pharmaceutical industry
