Senior Scientist (Pathology, Drug Safety and Metabolism)

AstraZeneca R&D Boston US is looking for a Pathology Senior Scientist to support Drug Development.

Our global Pathology Department within Drug Safety and Metabolism supports all stages of drug discovery and development, from target selection through post-marketing. We are seeking a highly motivated PhD-level scientist with strong laboratory-based skills and experience with advanced imaging techniques. As a Pathology Senior Scientist, you will interact with a team of motivated scientists across multiple disciplines and apply cutting edge technologies to drive discovery and development of safe medicines that improve patients’ lives.   

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD in molecular pathology, toxicology, immunology, molecular biology or similar discipline.  
  • Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of molecular pathology assay development (IHC/ISH, IF multiplexing, confocal imaging, flow cytometry).
  • Experience with experimental design and generation and interpretation of high quality experimental data.
  • Proven scientific leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Preferred background:

  • Experience and familiarity with highly multiplexed IF tissue imaging and algorithms/software platforms used for analysis.
  • Understanding of the drug discovery and development process gained from experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent team working skills across multidisciplinary project teams.
