Global Financial Services is at the heart of the Finance function - accountable to the AstraZeneca (AZ) Group for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes that enable our customers to focus on AZ’s strategic priorities.  

Our processes cover record to report, purchase to pay and order to cash and we drive AZ’s cash focus through disciplined management of supplier and customer payment terms and practices. GFS provides P2P/T&E process helpdesk services to internal AZ and external end users, including training support to internal AZ users. Plans are in place to extend the scope and internal customer coverage during 2017.

GFS operates globally through a combination of in-house captive and offshored business process outsourcing (BPO). The BPO element has been provided in partnership with our service provider partner Genpact since 2008. 

AZ Finance is part way through an ambitious, broad ranging, multi-year transformation programme, called Finance Transformation (FT).  FT plans for transactional process and technology improvements will underpin a next wave of GFS transformation and a step change in service effectiveness and efficiency. A new Finance Operating Model will be in place by end 2018 and GFO will evolve to this new model changing both where we operate from and how we work.

As the successful role-holder, he/she is responsible to carry out Capital and Fixed Assets transaction processing activities within a specified process area to meet the needs of both internal and external customers in accordance with agreed service levels and in compliance with internal controls and procedures, ensure quality and accurate delivery of services within agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) and as defined in the Service Level Agreement (SLA), support process improvement initiatives as outlined in APBS scorecard and perform day to day and the month-end close accounting activities related to Global R2R Capital and Fixed Assets.


  • Deliver professional and consistent service to customers. Resolve Global & Local Country inquiries that have been escalated by the team for Global R2R Capital and Fixed Assets function.
  • Perform various tasks related to Capital and Fixed Assets activities, with focus on IFRS 16 lease transactions.
  • Ensure complete and accurate input of global lease details into a centrally owned lease database.
  • Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliations team following the Global Policy within specified timelines. Works with Local Countries to resolve long outstanding items reflected in the accounts, where required.
  • Handle Capital and Fixed Assets related transactional processing independently within well defined guidelines, including resolving complex queries and investigations in a timely manner.
  • Support Team Lead to review entries posted by team to ensure accuracy. Analyzes the accounting entries, identify and resolve issues where necessary under minimum supervision. Carry out all reporting requirements accurately and within specified timescales. Prepares and produces monthly reports as assigned, highlight and rectify any identified anomalies.
  • Contribute to development/changes in systems and process improvement initiatives. This includes preparing and updating process documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Support team lead and team members in activities to enhance the effectiveness of the team. Provide technical guidance or coaching and allocating work to others with minor supervision role. May need to supervise a group of team members in a specified process area and provide feedback to Team Lead as needed.
  • Ensure compliance to key controls as identified in the FCF/SOX documentation and where required, support Team Lead to review other team members documentation.
  • Generate and compile KPI metrics related to Global R2R Capital and Fixed Assets function at month end, and as/when required.
  • Support Team Lead when there are any ad hoc activities or project.
  • Back up responsibilities of Team Lead during his/her absence.

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Finance & Accounting/Commerce or equivalent with professional qualifications e.g. ACCA/CPA/MIA.
  • Possess 2-4 years of accounting work experiences.
  • Graduates and candidates pursuing a professional qualification (part time) in ACCA, CIMA or any other relevant qualification are also encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP, Oracle or other ERP system.
  • Working experience in a shared service centre across a global/large organization.
  • Good communication skill and able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience in lease accounting or performing migration projects is an added advantage.
  • Able to travel, where required.
