Are you a dedicated Bioinformatician with an analytical mindset? Would you like to apply bioinformatics and computational solutions to help us evolve our transcriptomics capabilities? We want you to join us in our thrive to develop and deliver novel software solutions.

We are investing in capabilities in multi-omics (e.g. transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) and want you to join our multi-disciplinary team Quantitative Biology team in Gothenburg. Integrative multi-omics analysis has the potential to deliver more comprehensive biological insights both at a system and single cell level. To build and strengthen transcriptomics we need your contribution as a passionate scientist. You will play a key role in supporting, driving and developing transcriptomics skills and projects.

Our focus is to provide quantitative insights to biology for discovery of new therapeutics. We do this by improving the biological understanding of the target and its engagement. This includes supporting the identification of molecular mechanisms of action as well as providing image and data analysis solutions to high dimensional datasets. We also drive improvement of the company's ability to prioritize target selection and portfolio projects based on probability of technical success.

Our beautiful campus in Gothenburg is one of AstraZeneca’s three strategic science centers. The site is home to over 2,500 employees, from 50 different nationalities. Gothenburg includes the complete variety of functions, and as such offers plenty of development opportunities for a wide range of professionals. Main Duties and Responsibilities

We will depend on your contribution with bioinformatic expertise both by individual contributions and in collaboration with experimentalists, bioinformaticians, statisticians and other data scientists. Your main focus will be to:

  • Develop software enablements for NGS transcriptomics data processing, analysis toolkits and pipelines, including development or internalization of algorithms and techniques
  • Impact, prototype and build local and global data management processes and solutions for capturing and exploiting NGS transcriptomics and other high-dimensional data types
  • Design and deliver robust and impactful transcriptomics studies via processing, analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Ensure scientific excellence in software, processes and results in an efficient and well documented mode

Essential Requirements

You are a skilled bioinformatician with a proven track record of delivering software solutions for business needs. Your ability to convert details into holistic information by collaborating with colleagues as well as customers will be of great importance.

We expect you to have:

  • PhD or equivalent in bioinformatics, mathematics, computer science, statistics, engineering or life sciences
  • Demonstrable experience in the core areas: RNA and DNA based Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), multivariate and/or high dimensional data analysis (-omics), integrative omics analyses, data management and visualisation
  • Experience with relevant software tools such as R, Python, Shiny, Javascript, C/C++, SQL/NoSQL databasing, networked and cloud-based systems, HTML, software versioning tools (e.g. Git/Github)

Desirable Requirements

  • Basic understanding of molecular biology, cell biology and human physiology
  • Experience in non-NGS transcriptomics technologies would be an advantage
