The candidate will be a part of MedImmune drug delivery and device development group responsible for combination product development involving parenteral injection devices delivering biologics and peptides. This position is in the platform device development group and will be part of the development team implementing the state-of-the-art technologies to develop platform injection devices for a diverse and complex pipeline of drug assets through the entire portfolio ranging from clinical to commercial launch.

This role will contribute in the development of product requirements, generate and evaluate device concepts, conduct engineering analyses, develop detailed engineering specifications, create device designs, and perform design verification/validation testing in a cross-functional team to ensure successful development and launch of mechanical and electro-mechanical medical devices. This role requires excellent technical writing skills and good understanding of design control process. 

This position requires interactions with biopharmaceutical development functions particularly working with project teams in Medimmune, as well as collaborating with AstraZeneca's manufacturing, regulatory and quality organizations, and external device development partners.

Position Requirements:

Previous experience studying and/or working on device technologies is required. Experience with commercial/clinical development and/or regulatory filings related to device development is highly valued.

Educational Requirement:

B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical or related engineering field with 2-5 years (B.S.) or 0-2 years (M.S.) experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, device or drug delivery industry.

Special Skill/Abilities

Good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are essential. Strong work habits and commitment to the position are highly valued. Problem solving, innovation and creativity are also fundamental qualities for this role.

Candidate is expected to be an independent thinker and able to perform work responsibilities and determine technical objectives with modest direction.
