Brief Job Description

The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for strategic planning for warehouse and tank farm operations to include space utilization, shipping and receipt planning, sampling planning, material management including Kanban.  Responsible for reporting metrics on KPIs including on-time in full, temperature excursions, warehouse capacity.  Responsible for leading improvement projects and execution of lean principles in the warehouse.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ethical conduct and compliance
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse area
  • Participate in problem solving activities
  • Write, review and revise SOPs and/or work instructions
  • Attend team meetings to discuss progress, initiatives and/or other matters
  • Consult cross-functionally as a SME on systems and/or processes within a functional area
  • Develop lean processes and procedures
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures to direct the operations of the warehouse
  • Ensure adequate availability of pertinent warehouse facilities and equipment requirements for material handling, shipping and storing
  • Write, review and revise SOPs and Forms as needed to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse equipment, including management of routine preventative maintenance
  • Organize shut downs and/or maintenance windows
  • Attend inter-departmental meetings to discuss matters involving the coordination of multiple departments
  • Assist with coordinating activities of support groups
  • Coordinate with representatives from other departments
  • Determine Min/Max levels of inventory items
  • Monitor shelf life and liase with QC/Planning for testing
  • Manage receiving, sampling, storing and shipping of materials efficiently and according to schedule
  • Support development of Site Route Risk Assessments
  • Manage warehouse calendar, delivery scheduling, sampling, inspections, transfers between Rinchem and Coppell and Coppell to Newark
  • Write minor and major deviations
  • Participate in investigations (complaints, deviations, temperature excursions)
  • Report process deviations when they occur
  • Maintain all required documentation in real time and assure inspection ready
  • Complete CAPAs
  • Initiate appropriate action when process deviations occur
  • Interact with regulatory agency personnel during audits and inspections
  • Provide feedback on service and quality issues on a timely basis
  • Participate as area lead in internal audits
  • Interact with other departments to implement corrective/preventative actions
  • Lead problem solving activities
  • Participate as area lead in external inspections
  • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices and behaviors
  • Assess and implement improvements in productivities, waste generation, quality and cost
  • Identify temporary and permanent fixes to address issues
  • Monitor KPIs
  • Lead process improvement activities and team to meet strategic goals
  • Identify cost drivers and opportunities to reduce costs for site transactions
  • Establish visual tracking and other tools to enhance audit readiness and trend analysis
  • Analyze trends in data in order to provide accurate descriptions, identify root causes, and/or identify solutions or improvements
  • Train warehouse employees
  • Assist in management of starting materials and product inventory, including investigations and inventory adjustments
  • Manage raw material and API inventory levels
  • Arrange transportation for outbound materials
  • Reviewing and/or verifying logbook and form entries
  • Weekly inspections of the warehouse areas to including cleaning and safety compliance

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 5-7 years warehouse experience
  • Knowledge/Experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • WMS Experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to lift 50lbs

Preferred:

  • MRP/ERP experience (SAP)
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Project Management Skills
  • Bulk Chemical Deliveries
