Technology & Architecture Lead - Robotic Process Automation

Software Shared Services (SSS) - Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Cambridge



The Technology & Architecture Lead is a key role within the Robotics and Cognitive Centre (RCC) Governance and Support team, responsible for scaling Robotic and Cognitive Automation across AstraZeneca. As a Technology & Architecture Lead, is responsible for establishing Automation Standards and Controls for maintaining & deploying tools whilst ensuring alignment to IT Policies, Security & Compliance.


  • Leads architecture assessments and capability development as it relates to the RCC, transferring relevant knowledge to peers and reviewing any changes as a domain authority
  • Stays up-to-date on IT automation strategy and architecture thought leadership and drives good practices back into the organisation
  • Creates, owns, maintains and monitors adherence to the IT aspect of the RPA Standardisation Framework, including standards, methodologies, tools. Ensures the framework meets security, quality and compliance requirements
  • Defines best practices, drives module and code reuse, and promotes the reuse of solutions that have already been developed
  • Contribute to the development of the RPA Architecture Capability within IT, documenting and sharing knowledge and best practices with peers
  • Ensures alignment with existing Enterprise Architecture (EA) principles, blueprints, roadmaps, guidelines and compliance with EA software standards, driving the adaptation and modification of these where changes are required to best support the requirements of robotics & cognitive automation
  • Drives the optimisation of the robot architecture and ecosystem
  • Responsible for Development and Maintenance of organisational-wide methods and tools to support RPA. Develops and maintains a comprehensive suite of methods, standards and tools as it relates to the technical elements of automation
  • Responsible for ensuring that the pipeline and delivery processes aligning with the SSS RPA team, methods and standards are appropriately governed and enabling scaled deployments at pace
  • Ensures adherence to methods and tools aligned to required quality and compliance standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring that RPA technology standards follow the relevant controls and policies; updating them where there is a gap.
  • Drives continuous improvement in both development methodology and ways of working from a technical standpoint
  • Supports the Pipeline & Delivery lead in defining the implementation approach, engage with CFIT architects and business in leading the scope along with the SSS RPA team

Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge in levering RPA (AA) to drive Business Benefits. Understanding of trends on the Digital Automation Platform.
  • Proven experience in implementing solutions with Continuous Development, Continuous Integration, Release Management on Robotic Process Automation and Cognitive Automation
  • Experienced in AWS Architecture, validating & solutioning the extended RPA Infrastructure
  • Strong technical writing skills, communication and presentation skills with Senior Partners
  • Good to have prior consulting, advisory or professional shared services experience on automation
  • Passionate to know the latest trends and developments and keeping abreast to innovate a robust solution architecture
  • Ideal candidate's career experience will journey from being a Developer to a Lead to an Architect

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Experience with Automation Anywhere tools in the market, is a benefit
  • Good to have industry relevant certification on Digital Automation Platforms and AWS Technologies
  • TOGAF certifications will be an added advantage
