We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Project Manager to join AstraZeneca at our headquarters in Cambridge.

  • Lead and coordinate inter-dependencies between projects and programme work streams (within the Data foundation and across GMD Transformation)
  • Handle relationships with senior business partners to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project/program objectives. Responsible for steering / partner meetings, communication of status, issues, risks.
  • Own delivery of the user benefits for one or more of the delivery domains (Clinical or Design & Planning), working closely with the business product owner and delivery teams to ensure expectations are met.
  • Build a cohesive project /programme team and provide the leadership necessary to improve the team’s success.
  • Ensure expected benefits realization is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood by partners and project team.
  • Drive effective risks & issues management, ensuring processes are in place and effectively used. Ensure problems resolved and advance as appropriate.
  • Lead, drive and approve plans for projects / programmes, including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities and quality as defined in the IT Project Management Methodology (ADF).
  • Own project / programme improvement plans and lead execution of remediation plans.
  • Run changes to project/programme scope, ensuring that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to partners and review boards.
  • Lead and coordinate project / programme budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management, and status to support effective decisions and project reporting to partners and review boards.
  • Ensure the project team adheres to all standards including ADF, quality, and compliance, as well as processes, defined technical capabilities, and architecture standard methodologies. Establish program governance and lead Decision Point reviews; member Steering Committee meetings.

Works Collaboratively with:

AZ Senior/executive partners to ensure understanding and dedication to programme objectives, and development and refinement of deliverables Key business partners (eg. business product owners) to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and dedication to project/programme objectives Data Foundation Leaders (GMD Data Governance Operational Lead, Data Quality Lead, Data Access Lead) to ensure successful delivery of Data Foundation objectives Data Hub core team to ensure delivery of Data Hub objectives and benefits Internal and External Suppliers to ensure delivery of agreed products and services while ensuring adherence to AZ project delivery standards

Essential - Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Technical or Business Degree or validated meaningful experience
  • Validated skills and experience handling and controlling large project and programme budgets.
  • Experience working in a global organization where partners and project team members are geographically dispersed and managing/leading global data project resources – either matrixed, onshore, offshore or vendor teams
  • Experience of data warehousing, data harmonisation, data transformation, and data integration principles/technologies
  • Evidence of crafting creative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience with internal and external suppliers and solutions
  • Clinical domain knowledge and experience
  • Excellent business insight with sensitivity to environment
  • A capable knowledge of Financial Management and Benefits Delivery practices.
  • Broad understanding of IT systems and technology implemented within a business context
  • Proven leadership skills interacting with senior leaders
  • Agile, Lean

Desirable

  • Experience of delivering cloud based solutions
  • Experience of delivering GxP solutions
