As Brand Director, Respiratory in Cambridge, UK, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. GPPS (Global Product and Portfolio Strategy) bridges science and commercial, integrating corporate, portfolio, therapy areas and product strategies, providing strategic direction from early-stage research through to commercialization.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As part of the GPPS Respiratory Therapeutic area, this portfolio is AstraZeneca’s next generation of inhaled products in both asthma and COPD.

Within the Respiratory Global Portfolio and Product Strategy (GPPS) team and reporting to commercial Head Of, the Brand Director, Respiratory will be accountable for the development and implementation of compelling promotional plans, up to and including promotional communication materials, global campaign, global promotional activities, workshop and sales support materials according to the brand strategy. The key focus of the role is launch preparation for a specific respiratory product, a first in class therapy for the US Market.

In this position, you will work cross functionally with colleagues across AZ; Global Product Teams and Marketing Company partnership and engagement (especially with the US marketing company). This role requires an elevated level of cross functional collaboration and leadership, supporting early market development, insight generation and commercial understanding. This is a unique opportunity to create and develop a first in class brand for the USMC.

The successful individual will demonstrate strong skills in the areas of strategic thinking, decision making, communication, leadership, problem solving and collaboration.

As a global Brand Director, Respiratory representing GPPS, you will be accountable for:

  • Develop and create all aspects of the Product Branding  
  • Brand promotional communication and campaign
  • Ensure coordination with clinical team and medical team to deliver appropriate evidences to support Respiratory product launch
  • Being an active member of the cross-functional global commercial working group (GPT) and GBT
  • Engaging with local head of marketing to ensure a flawless and aligned execution of the promotional plan, with a specific focus on launch readiness in coordination with the Academy team
  • Provide promotional input to the global strategy / BSP
  • Commercial Leadership within the Global Product Teams

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in the respiratory therapeutic area, with inhaled respiratory brands
  • Broad commercial experience including pre-launch and launch, in-particular US sales and Payer experience
  • In-depth understanding of commercial strategy, methodologies and tools (product profiling and positioning, forecasting, pricing & reimbursement, market research techniques, competitive intelligence resources)
  • Proven experience of engaging with and leveraging insights from external customers e.g. KEEs, prescribers, payors
  • Evidence of developing compelling business cases and generating sales forecasts
  • Experience of shaping brand strategy whilst the understanding of product profile was evolving
  • Thorough understanding of the drug development process and the need for commercial line of sight throughout
  • Exposure to and track record of effective management of senior decision-making/governance bodies
  • Strong strategic thinking, decision making, and problem solving
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to ensure markets preparation and effective decision of senior leaders
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functional boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to bring ideas to action
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (written and verbal) required
