We are recruiting a Corporate Affairs Lead (80 – 100%)

In this role you provide expert support to the Country President, the leadership team and the organization and take the lead in delivering the internal and external corporate affairs roadmap. You will be responsible for developing and rolling out internal communication programs which foster organizational alignment, the empowerment and the pride of our employees to work for AstraZeneca. You will also lead the development and management of external engagement projects to position AZ Switzerland as a science driven company and a great place to work. Furthermore, you are responsible for developing strategy and providing strategic advice to the senior leaders on government affairs, public policy and developing health partnerships to advance AstraZeneca’s interests, reputation and shape the business environment in which AstraZeneca operates through your engagement in the industry association and with external stakeholders.

Your main tasks/ key accountabilities

  • Develop and roll out external communication and governmental affairs plan to shape the external reputation of AstraZeneca in Switzerland
  • Responsibility to build strategic engagement plan and lead interactions with Government, local authorities, Embassies and trade associations in alignment with business priorities
  • Actively engage with key Patient Groups and Scientific Associations to develop advocacy for patient centric therapy area solutions.
  • Actively engage in shaping the broader pharmaceutical industry environment in Switzerland through the industry association in alignment with business priorities
  • Act as media spokesperson and ensure timely and professional management of media requests to maintain a positive reputation of AstraZeneca Switzerland
  • Support the BU teams in delivering optimal support for TA priorities through patient support, Therapy area shaping and healthcare system changes
  • Support BU teams in developing and delivering a robust local brand communications strategy for our key brands in order to position AstraZeneca as a science driven company in Switzerland
  • Developing and roll out of internal comms roadmap (f2f, events, classical and digital channels) with the objectives to align the organization on strategy, enhance employee empowerment and engagement as well as pride working for AstraZeneca
  • Develop activities in collaboration with HR to position AstraZeneca as a Great Place to Work in Switzerland
  • Providing communications counsel and support on an ad hoc basis to senior leaders as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in governmental affairs, journalism, communication, marketing or related field
  • Track record of min. 5-7 years of external and internal communication as well as governmental affairs experience (ideally in healthcare sector)
  • Good knowledge of the Swiss media landscape and the pharmaceutical regulatory environment
  • Ideally experience in driving advocacy projects / working with patient advocacy organizations

Skills and other prerequisites

  • Ability to set and manage priorities, goals and project initiatives
  • Hands-on mentality and readiness to manage several projects at same time and from A-Z
  • First-rate coordination, collaboration, organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret scientific and medical data
  • Curious personality and good cross-functional team player
  • High level of motivation and proactivity
  • Proficient in operating Microsoft Office and experience of digital and social media
  • Proficiency in both German and English
  • Experience in working with senior leaders as well as in matrix-organizations
  • Good influencing skills
