Main Duties And Responsibilities:

The Oncology Marketing Lead (OML) will lead the development and implementation of the strategic and tactical plan for one or more of the AZ Oncology therapy area franchises within the UK. You will provide Marketing leadership and drive innovation for all brands within the Haematology franchise throughout their lifecycle and will oversee Marketing success that truly delivers for patients, healthcare providers and AZ.

As the OML you will be directly accountable for the success of Oncology Marketing within the Marketing Company. The OML will deliver this by recruiting, developing and inspiring the team to innovate and compete effectively in-market through cohesive global and local cross-functional working both internally and externally. You will also ensure that all Therapy area and Marketing activities are compliant, aligned with Global, sanctioned by the appropriate stakeholders and truly patient focused.

Leading the Marketing team:

  • Understands and articulates the Oncology patient’s perspective from the moment of diagnosis and throughout their journey.
  • Ensures that strong external relationships within Oncology are built and maintained
  • Inspires and leads the capability development for the Marketing teams and individuals

Implement strategic and tactical Marketing plans:

  • Works with the Oncology Business Unit Director and Global brand teams to help shape Therapy area/Marketing direction ensuring the critical success factors for the country are supported
  • Leads the creation of innovative and highly effective Strategic Marketing plans across the Therapy area/Brand
  • Leads the Marketing company launch and pipeline management for the Marketing teams

Minimum Requirements:


  • Degree level qualification in science/medicine essential
  • Pharmaceutical experience in Oncology at senior marketing level
  • Experience of working within cross-functional business units
  • Demonstrable success within Oncology Marketing leadership across several brands


  • Marketing qualifications preferred
  • Experience of solid, haematological and/or biological preparations
  • In depth understanding of Account Planning and Customer Engagement programme and processes
  • Good knowledge of local and international Oncology through leaders
  • In depth understanding of local healthcare system pricing and reimbursement
