AstraZeneca seeks a forward-thinkingReal World Evidence (RWE) Associate Directorto join our dynamic Safety Analytics team within Global Patient Safety. This role is crucial in revolutionizing our approach to detecting and managing safety signals and integrating real-world data (RWD) into the safety signal management process.

What You Will Do:

As a visionary RWE Associate Director, you will:

  • Lead Analytic Solutions: Design and implement cutting-edge analytic solutions using real-world data to solve complex patient safety problems, ensuring the delivery of key insights and strategic value.

  • Strategic Partnership and Collaboration: Forge strong partnerships with Safety Epidemiology, drug project teams, and R&D colleagues to support clinical trial diversity and pharmacovigilance analysis, effectively addressing health authority inquiries.

  • Drive Real-World Evidence Value: Demonstrate a proven track record in delivering RWE by proposing and implementing data science analyses that address critical business needs, providing expert guidance on study design and data utilization.

  • Engage Stakeholders: Engage directly with internal and external stakeholders, understanding their safety-related problems, developing appropriate analytics strategies, and clearly communicating insights and interpretations.

  • Develop Data Strategy : Assist in shaping AstraZeneca's Patient Safety data strategy, evaluating new data providers/vendors, and providing informatics support for data acquisitions.

  • Provide Technical Leadership: Offer input on strategic decisions related to data partner selection, risk management, study design, and best practices in the utilization of RWE data.

  • Translate Safety Questions into Data Science Problems: Convert unstructured safety questions into definable data science problems, creating analytical solutions and supporting stakeholder discussions to address their questions.

  • Evaluate External Data Sources: Assess the strengths and weaknesses of external real-world data sources and potential partners to advance the data strategy for specific therapeutic areas. Respond rapidly to safety-related queries from colleagues and regulators.

What you bring to the table:

  • Academic Background: Degree in medical, life sciences, computer science, applied statistics, or related quantitative fields.

  • RWE Project Experience: Proven ability in designing and executing RWE projects with knowledge of health economics/epidemiology.

  • Data Expertise: Familiarity with EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases, including clinical data standards and medical terminologies (ICD9/10, MedDRA).

  • Data Wrangling Skills: Track record of extracting, transforming, and integrating data to implement analytical solutions.

  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Collaborative Approach: Experience working in a matrix environment with multiple stakeholders.

What we prefer you to have:

  • Advanced Degree: MSc/Ph.D. in relevant fields.

  • Regulated Industry Experience: Analytics experience in a regulated setting (GLP, GCP, GVP, etc.).

  • Programming Proficiency: Expertise in R, Python, and SQL.

  • Analytical Acumen: Proficiency in statistical methods, machine learning, NLP models, and deep learning algorithms relevant to biomedical science.

  • Influential Collaboration: Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and influence without authority.
