Project Manager, Oncology R&D (12-month Contract)

We are looking for a self-motivated, collaborative and innovative Project Manager to support non-drug or enabling projects. You will sit in the PMO in the Oncology Chief Operating Office and provide Project Management support across Oncology on critical strategic priorities that often span multiple SET areas. You will be able to motivate others, take ownership for projects and maintain high standards of delivery. You will work directly with Project leads, Programme Leads and Sponsors to ensure deliverables fall within scope and budget and coordinate with other departments and / or Project Managers to ensure alignment between different initiatives.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and requirements, assisting in the formulation of a comprehensive business case for new projects.

  • Write and maintain project plans using tools like Smart Sheet or MS Project, manage budgets, report progress, and oversee the project scope, schedule, and resources.

  • Collaborate with business and change partners to handle project deliverables' impact, ensure effective risk and issue management processes are in place, and resolve problems with appropriate escalation.

  • Identify process changes required from the project and work with business and Lean & training partners to ensure the processes are updated and those who need it are adequately trained in the changes.

  • Oversee and handle interdependencies between various workstreams to ensure cohesive project progression.

  • Develop, in partnership with the functional leads, a delivery plan to ensure that any project deliverables transition into business as usual (BAU).

  • Where there is technology delivered, create the service transition plan and execute it as part of the end of project hand over.

  • Set up the process to collect expected benefits identified in the approved business case across where it has been delivered.

  • Responsible for running ‘Lessons Learned’ for the project with clear actions to improve.

  • Responsible for ensuring that KPIs and monitoring are in place so that project benefits can be tracked, escalating if off target.

  • Maintain relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure the business objectives collected in the project level business case are delivered as planned.

  • Work with the functional leads, the Benefits Lead, Business Lead, and Program Lead to devise and implement a strategy for assessing the realized benefits from project deliverables.

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Degree (or relevant equivalent qualification) in relevant area, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Minimum of 5+ years in Project Management with a demonstrable track record in delivering projects and strong skills in Project and Programme management.

  • Proven track recordrun anage and control project budgets effectively.

  • Experience with various project management and delivery methodologies and standards.

  • Strong communication abilities and skills in stakeholder engagement and consulting.

  • Excellent business insight with an understanding of the Pharma industry's specific environment

  • Proficiency in project management tools and processes, coupled with strong information management skills, including the use of current tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, SmartSheets, and Microsoft Project.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with non-drug portfolios in Research and Development (R&D).

  • Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or a comparable project management qualification.

  • Knowledge of the Oncology Therapy Area
